USWNT Ends 2011 Season As Best Women's Team In The World

Despite losing to Mexico in the semifinals of the CONCACAF Qualifying Tournament for the 2011 FIFA Women's World Cup and having to beat Italy in a two-game playoff to earn the 16th and final berth into the upcoming tournament, the US Women's National Team finished the 2010 calendar season as the number one team in the world in the final FIFA/Coca Cola World Rakings November 19.

The top eight teams remained unchanged from the October poll -- US, Germany, Brazil, Sweden, Japan, North Korea, Norway and France. Canada climbed four spots from 13th to ninth in the final poll and England, at ninth in October, fell to tenth.

The FIFA/Coca-Cola Women's World Rankings polls for 2011 will be released on March 18, July 22, September 23 and December 23.
