The Philadelphia Independence of Women's Professional Soccer announced Monday the signings of two former members of the league's Atlanta Beat, the re-signing of a player from last year's debut roster, and the trade of a player to the new Western New York Flash.
Joining the Independence for 2011 are former Beat defenders Kia McNeill and Leigh Ann Robinson.
McNeill, who played in the league's first season with St. Louis Athletica, which folded in 2010, anchored a defensive line that allowed the second fewest goals in the league, then headed to the Beat, where she started 19 games.
Robinson, the first player selected in the 2009 WPS Expansion Draft from the University of San Diego, started 21 of 24 games for the Beat and played a season high 1,973 minutes.
Johnson joined the Independence via the Dispersal Draft, held when the Athletica folded.
Seger was traded to the expansion Flash for their initial second round picks in the 2011 and 2012 WPS College Draft.
