Beat Ink USWNT Midfielder Lloyd To Contract

The Atlanta Beat, the worst team last season in Women's Professional Soccer, signed US Women's National Team midfielder Carli Lloyd to a contract Friday.

Lloyd originally played for the Chicago Red Stars when the league allocated USWNT players to teams before the inaugural 2009 season. She started 14 of 16 games and had two goals and an assist with Chicago before signing with Sky Blue FC in October of that season.

The US Soccer Federation's 2008 Female Athlete of the Year, she has scored 22 goals in 100 games for her country's women's soccer team.
