The currently number-one-ranked US Women's National Team were named the top seed in Group B for the 2011 FIFA Women's World Cup as the official draw was held Monday in Frankfurt, Germany.
The US, who won a two-game play-in series with Italy for the final spot in the 16-team field, will face North Korea June 28 in Dresden, then head to Sinshen to play Colombia July 2 before ending group play July 5 against Sweden in Wolfsburg.
The top two teams in each group move on to the quarterfinals.
Should the US win their group, they will face the second-place Group D finisher (either top seed Brazil, Australia, Norway or Equitorial Guinea) July 10 in Augsberg; if they finish second, they will play the Group D winner in Dresden that same day.
The host country, Germany, is the top seed in Group A, joining Canada, Nigeria and France.
Group B is led by Japan, followed by New Zealand, Mexico and England.
Times for the games have yet to be announced.
