Before a league-record 3,064 fans, the San Diego Sockers unfurled their 2009-10 Professional Arena Soccer League North American Championship banner Saturday at Del Mar Arena, then edged the Tacoma Stars 8-6 to begin their home campaign.
Deuces were wild for the Sockers as Kraig Chiles, Dan Antoniuk, Aaron Susi and Diego Roviva each had two goals in the victory. Chiles assisted on two other goals and Antoniuk added another assist as well.
Player-head coach Greg Howes led the Stars with a pair of goals and a pair of assists.
The Sockers will host the California Cougars next Saturday at Del Mar Arena while the Stars hit the road this Sunday to face Revolucion Tijuana.
