2009 Major League Soccer Champion Real Salt Lake, who made the 2010 playoffs but failed to defend their crown, announced their winners of year-end awards Friday.
Midfielder Javier Morales, the team's Most Valuable Player in 2008, won the award for 2010 after scoring seven goals and assisting on a team-high nine others.
Nat Borchers was named the Defender of the Year after becoming the only player to start all 30 games this season, tallying 2,673 minutes on the pitch, the best on the team and the fifth-most minutes played in MLS in 2010.
His defensive unit allowed a league-record 20 goals over 30 games, set a new league record with seven goals scored at home, and finished second in the league in shutouts in a single season with 15.
Midfielder Jean Alexandre was named their Humanintarian of the Year after working with residents of his native country of Haiti to clean up after a devastating earthquake laid waste to the country.
Finally, forward Alvaro Saborio, already named the 2010 MLS Newcomer of the Year, was named the winner of the team's Golden Boot by scoring a team-high 12 goals, the first seven coming at Rio Tinto Stadium in Sandy, UT.
His goal total put him in eighth place for the league's Golden Boot honor, which went to San Jose Earthquakes forward Chris Wondolowski.
His 12 goals tied him with Robbie Findley in 2009 for second place on the team's single season goal scoring list, four goals behind Jeff Cunningham, who had 16.
