MLS Announces 2010 Best XI

Major League Soccer Tuesday announced the roster of players selected for their 2010 Best XI, voted on by team media members and fellow players.

The Supporters Shield champion Los Angeles Galaxy have four players named to the team, followed by 2009 MLS Cup champion Real Salt Lake, seeing three players named.

GOALKEEPER
Donovan Ricketts, Los Angeles Galaxy
Named 2010 MLS Goalkeeper of the Year after going 18-7-4 in 29 mtches started in 2010 with 11 shutouts and a 0.90 goals against average, third-best in the league.

DEFENDERS
Jamison Olave, Real Salt Lake
Led team to new league record for fewest goals allowed in a season (20) and scored three goals.

Nat Borchers, Real Salt Lake
Named 2010 MLS Defender of the Year after scoring two goals -- including a header in stoppage-time -- and played all but 27 minutes ths season.

Omar Gonzalez, Los Angeles Galaxy
The 2009 MLS Rookie of the Year led the league's second-stingest defense in 2010, giving up 26 goals. He also scored two goals during the season.

MIDFIELDERS
David Ferreira, FC Dallas
The lone Best XI member still playing this season, he scored eight goals and had 13 assists, second-most in the league. He also played all but one minute of the regular season, but was the most penalized player this season.

Javier Morales, Real Salt Lake
He had seven goals and nine assists for the 2009 MLS Cup champions this season.

Sebastien LeToux, Philadelphia Union
Winner of the league's individual Fair Play Award for receiving the fewest penalties, he had 14 goals and 11 assists, accounting for 71% of the expansion team's points this season.

Dwayne De Rosario, Toronto FC
He is now tied with Chris Armas and Jaime Moreno with his fifth Best XI nomination and scored 15 goals, including five game-winners in 2010.

FORWARDS
Chris Wondolowski, San Jose Earthquakes
The league's Golden Boot winner and a nominee for Most Valuable Player, he scored six goals in his final four games to tally 18 for the season, nine of which were game-winning goals. He led the Earthquakes to their first postseason appearance since reforming as a team in 2008

Edson Buddle, Los Angeles Galaxy
He finished second in the league's Golden Boot race with 17 goals, scoring his first nine of the season in the first six games. Buddle also earned a spot on the US Men's National Team roster for the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
