Lightning Re-Sign Six, Add Three More To Roster

The Louisville Lightning of the Professional Arena Soccer League announced the recent re-signings of six players -- Nick Staggs, Lindsay Smith, Mariano Gonzalez, Nick Judah, Lee Weyland and Patrick Bueno -- and signed three new players -- Trey Kramer, Tommy Clines and Scott Stockum.

Staggs, a defender, scored a goal and added five assists and blcoked six shots for the Lightning. He also scored a goal in last month's Pink Versus Yellow "Kick Cancer" exhibition scrimmage.

Smith, a forward, had three goals and an assist for the Lightning in 2009-10.

Gonzalez, a forward, scored four goals on 13 shots in three games for Louisville and assisted on two goals. He scored the second goal in the Lightning's history in a 6-5 loss to 1790 Cincinnati Express (now the Cincinnati Kings) November 13, 2009.

Judah, a forward, had 11 goals and seven assists in 14 games for Louisville last season.

Weyland, a defender who also played 14 games last season, had five goals, six assists and seven blocks for the Lightning.

Bueno, a defender, had four goals and an assist in nine games last season.

Kramer, a goalkeeper, graduated from Transylvania University in Kentucky, where he started all 22 games, earned 85 saves and a 0.56 goals against average and had 12 shutouts. He led the team to their first Elite Eight appearance in the NCAA Men's College Cup tournament.

He was named the university's 2009-2010 Men's Athlete of the Year and was an All-Conference player there. Kramer was also named to the All-Tournament Team at the 2009 John Carroll Soccer Classic.

A former club player with Lexington FC 88, Kramer tried out earlier this year for the Richmond Kickers of USL PRO.

Clines, a defender who played with the Javanon Soccer Club in Lousville, along with current Lightning players Adam Boyer, Chad Hagerty and Darren Yeagle, played collegiately at Vanderbilt then transferred to Xavier University in Cincinnati for his sophomore and junior seasons.

He was a captain with the Mockingbird Valley Soccer Club from 2000 to 2005 and led Javanon 87 to a national championship in 2006.

Stockum, a midfielder and forward, played at Cincinnati State University, where he was a National Junior College Atheltic Association All-American and a two-year starter, before transferring to the University of Cincinnati.
