John Flushes Away MLS Cup Title For FC Dallas; Colorado Wins In OT

The Colorado Rapids are the champions of Major League Soccer's 2010 season, thanks to defender George John of FC Dallas foolishly scoring a tiebreaking own goal in the 107th minute of a 2-1 overtime victory Sunday at Toronto's BMO Field, giving the Rapids their first MLS Cup title in two tries as an original league franchise.

The victory also snapped a 50-game regular season streak of losses when the Rapids are down at halftime.

FC Dallas, also an original member seeking its first title in their first finals appearance, took the lead in the 35th minute of regulation off a goal from league Most Valuable Player David Ferreira.

However, in the 57th minute, Colorado's Conor Casey, named the game's Most Valuable Player, evened the contest at 1-1 and sent the game into 30 minutes of extra play, culminating with the John error.
