Hughes Leads Kings To Season-Opening Win Over Lightning

Jeff Hughes, the reigning Professional Arena Soccer League Most Valuable Player, wasted little time in beginning defense of his title as he scored a hat trick to lead the Cincinnati Kings to a 6-5 victory over the host Louisville Lightning in the league's 2010-11 season opener Friday at the Mockingbird Valley Soccer Complex in Louisville, KY.
Jeff Henderson, Sam Fiore and Eddie Hertsenberg also scored for the Kings, who merged their operations in the offseason with the former 1790 Cincinnati Express to form a year-round franchise that will compete in the PASL and the USL Premier Development League.

Chad Hagerty, Safet Kovacevic, John Michael Hayden, Othaniel Yanez and Adam Boyer scored goals for the Lightning.
Both teams play again next Friday -- Cincinnati traveling to the Ohio Vortex; Louisville hosting the Detroit Waza.
