Major League Soccer's San Jose Earthquakes said Thursday they will not retain the services of their first Designated Player, Brazilian forward Geovanni, after they felt they got little from him for the investment they made.
Geovanni, who came with a strong resume with international teams such as FC Barcelona, Manchester City and Benfica, had only one goal and three assists in 777 minutes of play this season.
