Two of Major League Soccer's recent MLS Cup champions -- the 2008 champion Columbus Crew and the defending league champion Real Salt Lake -- will face other in a two-game, total goal quarterfinal matchup next year in the 2010-11 CONCACAF Champions League, according to the team draw announced Monday.
The Crew-RSL series is one of two matchups on the bottom half of the bracket with the winner advancing to the semifinals against the winner of the series between Costa Rica's Saprissa and Olimpia of Honduras.
In the top half of the bracket, two Mexican Primera Division teams will advance to the next round as Toluca faces Monterrey and Cruz Azul faces Santos Laguna.
Dates for the quarterfinal series will be between February 22-24 for the first leg and March 1-3 for the second leg with Toluca, Cruz Azul, the Crew and Saprissa hosting first legs.
Winners move on to the two-game semifinal series, with Game 1 taking place between March 15-17 and Game 2 being between April 5-7.
Those winners move on to the two-game championship series with Game 1 happening April 19-21 and Game 2 April 26-28.
