The expansion Missouri Comets of the Major Indoor Soccer League announced the signings of two local players Tuesday -- Charles O'Dell and Nick Kelly.
O'Dell is a native of Independence, MO, where the team plays their home games, and played high school soccer at William Chrisman High School and college soccer for Maple Woods Community College.
Kelly played his collegiate soccer at Columbia College in Columbia, MO.
The Comets return to Independence Events Center Friday for the first game of what's being called "The I-29 Series" against the Omaha Vipers; the interstate highway designation is the road that separates the two cities.
The team that wins the most games in the series will receive a trophy while the loser will make donation to the winning team's charity.
