Whitecaps Hold Onto NASL Lead, Game Play Streaks In Draw With Rowdies

The Vancouver Whitecaps extended their unbeaten streak in road games to ten games (4-0-6) and their undefeated streak to six games as they played the FC Tampa Bay Rowdies to a 1-1 draw in USSF Division 2 Pro League play Thursday at Steinbrenner Field in Tampa.

Blake Wagner scored for the Whitecaps unassisted in the seventh minute, then Jonathan Steele connected with Aaron King in the 78th minute to tie the game and led both to the inevitable draw.

Vancouver leads the NASL Conference of the D-2 League with a 9-3-12 record and 39 points. They will host the Austin Aztex August 29 at Swangard Stadium.

FC Tampa Bay is 6-8-9 with 27 points and are in last place in the USL Conference. The Rowdies are set to host the Carolina RailHawks August 25.
