The best team in the USSF Division 2 Pro League and its USL Conference, the Austin Aztex, defeated the polar opposite in the Miami FC Blues, the worst in the league and the NASL Conference, 3-1 Saturday in a matchup at House Park in Austin, TX.
Eddie Johnson scored first for Austin off a Leonard Griffin assist a minute before halftime, then surged to a 2-0 lead three minutes into the second half when Jamie Waston connected with Lawrence Olum on a goal.
Abe Thompson cut the advantage to one for Miami on a 75th minute unassisted score, but Kendell McFayden fired off a shot in second half stoppage time for Austin.
The Aztex are 11-2-5 with 38 points and will host FC Tampa Bay next Saturday at House Park.
The Blues, 2-8-9 with 15 points, head to the Maryland SoccerPlex in Boyds, MD Wednesday to face Crystal Palace Baltimore.
