USL-2 Announces Finalists For Postseason Awards

USL Second Division announced Wednesday the finalists for the league's 2010 postseason awards, to be handed out Friday at the annual Championship Banquet in Charleston, SC.

The 2010 league regular season champion Charleston Battery will face the defending league champion Richmond Kickers for the title this Saturday at Blackbaud Stadium.

All six of USL-2's franchises have players or coaches nominated as finalists, with the Battery and Kickers each having three named.

The Pittsburgh Riverhounds and the Charlotte Eagles have two members named as finalists, and the Harrisburg City Islanders and Real Maryland Monarchs have one finalist each named.

Here are the finalists for the awards:

Matthew Delicate, Richmond Kickers
Shintaro Harada, Pittsburgh Riverhounds
Lamar Neagle, Charleston Battery

ROOKIE OF THE YEAR
Jeremy Deighton, Pittsburgh Riverhounds
Miguel Ferrer, Charlotte Eagles
Debola Ogunseye, Charlotte Eagles

DEFENDER OF THE YEAR
Dustin Bixler, Harrisburg City Islanders
Gareth Evans, Real Maryland Monarchs
Shintaro Harada, Pittsburgh Riverhounds
Yomby William, Richmond Kickers

COACH OF THE YEAR
Mike Anhaeuser, Charleston Battery
Leigh Cowlishaw, Richmond Kickers

At the banquet, the winner of the Goalkeeper of the Year Award will be announced.
