Seattle Sounders forward Fredy Montero was named Wednesday Major League Soccer's Player of the Month for July after scoring two goals, including a game-winning shot on the road against the San Jose Earthquakes, and three assists, two of which lead to game-winning goals.
He last won the monthly honor in March 2009.
Montero has scored either a goal or an assist in their last eight MLS games and scored a goal against Metapan of El Salvador in the first game of a two-match Preliminary Round series in the 2010-11 CONCACAF Champions League.
He has seven goals this season in MLS play and is tied for second in the league in assists with eight.
