Richards Scores, Assists On Henry's First MLS Goal As Red Bulls Blank Earthquakes

Dane Richards scored a goal in first half stoppage time and assisted newcomer Thierry Henry on his first career Major League Soccer goal as the New York Red Bulls shut out the San Jose Earthquakes 2-0 Saturday at Red Bull Arena in Harrison, NJ.

The Red Bulls are 11-7-4 with 37 points and are in second place in the Eastern Conference standings. They are five points behind the conference-leading Columbus Crew to take over the conference's top spot again. The Crew and FC Dallas played to a scoreless draw Saturday.

The Earthquakes, who saw a two-game winning streak snapped, are 8-7-5 with 29 points, good for sixth place in the Western Conference race, and are at the Houston Dynamo next Sunday.
