The New York Red Bulls ended Toronto FC's 10-game unbeaten streak this Major League Soccer season Saturday with a 4-1 victory at BMO Field.
New York charged to a 2-0 lead off newcomer Rafa Marquez's first MLS goal in the 39th minute and an own goal by Toronto's Joseph Nane two minutes later.
Dwayne De Rosario scored Toronto's lone goal in the 49th minute before Juan Pablo Angel fired off an unassisted shot in the 61st minute and Carl Robinson ended the game with a 77th minute goal.
The win puts the Red Bulls at 10-7-4 with 34 points and in second place in the Eastern Conference standings, four points behind the Columbus Crew (11-5-4, 37) for sole possession of the conference lead. New York will host the San Jose Earthquakes next Saturday at Red Bull Arena in Harrison, NJ.
Toronto, now 6-1-4 at home, are 7-8-5 overall with 26 points and in third place in the Eastern table. They will look to start a new home game winning streak next Saturday against the defending league champion Real Salt Lake.
