Philadelphia's Rodriguez Named WPS POW For Third Time This Season

For the third time this season, Philadelphia Independence forward Amy Rodriguez was named Women's Professional Soccer's Player of the Week Tuesday, this time for Week 18 of the 2010 season.

Rodriguez scored a goal in the team's 2-1 win last Wednesday at the Chicago Red Stars and assisted on two goals in a 3-2 come-from-behind home win Sunday against the Boston Breakers.

She has 12 goals this season, putting her second in the Golden Boot race behind Marta of FC Gold Pride, who has 13.

Rodriguez is the only three-time award winner, having previously won in Weeks 8 and 11 in 2010, and it's the sixth time an Independence player has been given the award, following Lori Lindsey (Week 3), Danesha Adams (Week 10) and Caroline Seger (Week 15).

Marta has won the most career POW awards in the league with five, followed by Abby Wambach of the Washington Freedom with four.
