The Major Indoor Soccer League announced Wednesday they have approved an expansion team for Omaha, Nebraska for the 2010-11 season, joining the Missouri Comets as new franchises and boosting the league to seven teams.

The yet-to-be-named team will play home games at the Omaha Civic Auditorium Arena, the current home of the Omaha Beef in the Indoor Football League and the Omaha Lancers of the United States Hockey League.

Frank Onate, owner of the La Mesa Mexican restaurant chain, which operates 10 locations in Nebraska, Iowa, Missouri and Kansas, will be the team's principal owner.

Sean Coughlin will be the team's general manager. He moved to Omaha from Kansas City, MO in 2002 and has worked in sales the last 12 years.

Jose Ramon Munoz, who has launched four Hispanic radio stations in the city, will be a minority owner. He has worked for Telemundo, Journal Radio and NRG Media.
