Montero Lifts Sounders To Shutout Over Earthquakes

Fredy Montero, who has scored four goals and five assists in the Seattle Sounders' last eight Major League Soccer games, had the lone unassisted goal in the 26th minute as they defeated the San Jose Earthquakes 1-0 Saturday at Buck Shaw Stadium in Santa Clara, CA.

The Sounders won their third straight game and the Earthquakes saw their four-game unbeaten streak end.

Seattle is 7-8-4 with 25 points and in fourth place in the Western Conference standings. They will host the Houston Dynamo August 11 at Qwest Field.

San Jose is 6-5-6 with 23 points and in sixth place in the conference table. The Earthquakes take on the Colorado Rapids next Saturday at Dick's Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City, CO.
