Miguel Angel Ferrer Martinez, also known as Mista, assisted Martin Saric on a second minute goal and scored off a Ralvis Hscanovics assist in the 44th minute as Major League Soccer's Toronto FC made their debut in the 2010-11 CONCACAF Champions League tournament as they beat Cruz Azul of Mexico 2-1 at BMO Field in Toronto in Group A play.
Cruz Azul avoided the shutout when Christian Gimenez scored in the 89th minute.
The win increased Toronto's record in all competitions held at BMO Field to 10-0-4.
Toronto travels for their next group game -- the first of three on the road -- next Tuesday against Arabe Unido of Panama.
Cruz Azul heads home for their next game next Wednesday against the defending MLS champion Real Salt Lake.
