Miami Herald: Blues Sign Four Players For Playoff Push

In the hopes of making a push for the playoffs in the only season of the USSF Division 2 Pro League, Miami FC Blues recently added four players to their roster, according to Tuesday's Miami Herald.

On Friday, the Blues announced they received midfielder Gerson Mayen and forward Chukwudi Chjindu on loan from Chivas USA of Major League Soccer.

Mayen, a graduate of Chivas USA's youth academy, was signed to the team March 27, 2008 and debuted in the team's second game of the 2009 MLS season. He would play in 12 games during that season.

In 2010, he has started two of four games for the Red & White.

Chijindu joined Chivas April 3, 2009 and debuted eight nights later in a Honda Super Clasico match against the Los Angeles Galaxy. A week later, he would scored his first league goal against the Seattle Sounders.

In 2010, Chijindu has started two of 12 games and scored his second career goal.

Miami got a third player on a loan from MLS this weekend -- defender Aaron Hohlbein from the Kansas City Wizards, who has played in only two games this season.

The final player, Brazilian star Danilo Teixiera, came through the youth academy of Traffic Sports, who owns the Blues.

Miami has the worst record in the NASL Conference and the league itself at 3-8-10 with 19 points, but hopes the new additions will spark them to wins and points to earn a playoff spot.

The winners of the league's conferences -- the NASL and the USL -- along with the next six best records in the league, regardless of conference affiliation, will earn playoff spots.
