Legendary Mexican Defender Claudio Suarez Accepts Invitation From RailHawks

The Carolina RailHawks of the USSF Division 2 Pro League announced Wednesday legendary Mexican defender Claudio Suarez accepted an invitation to train with the team, starting September 1, and to play in one league contest.

Suarez most recently spent three seasons (2006-09) with Chivas USA in Major League Soccer.

He began his career in 1998 with Pumas UNAM, leading them to a Primera Division title in 1991, his final season there.

In 1996, he went to Chivas de Guadalajara and led them to a Primera Division crown the next season before being transferred to the UANL Tigres, where he stayed from 2000-06.

Suarez, who scored 53 goals in 555 games between MLS and Mexico's Primera Division, is the most capped member of his country's national team, as well as the world's top-capped men's player.

He played for Mexico on their 1994, 1998 and 2006 FIFA World Cup teams.
