Despite not playing one second in a game this season due to injury, Los Angeles Galaxy midfielder David Beckham still makes the most money in Major League Soccer at a 2010 salary of $6.5 million, according to the league's players union Thursday.
Beckham tore an Achilles tendon in the MLS offseason while being loaned to AC Milan in Italy's Serie A, but could return to league play in October.
The newest Designated Players for the New York Red Bulls -- Thierry Henry of France and Rafael Marquez of Mexico -- are the next two largest salaries this seasn at $5.6 million and $5.54 million, respectively.
Another newcomer, the Chicago Fire's Nery Castillo, is fourth on the top salary list at $1.79 million.
