Major League Soccer's San Jose Earthquakes will induct all-time leading goal scorer and assist leader Ronald Cerritos into the team's Hall Of Fame during halftime of their September 29 game against the Chicago Fire at Buck Shaw Stadium, the team announced Tuesday.
Cerritos played with the Earthquakes from 1997 to 2001, then returned for the 2005 season.
He finished at San Jose with 61 goals and 47 assists, first on the team in both categories, was fourth on the team all-time in appearances (148), minutes played (12,362) and games started (142), and led the Earthquakes to their lone MLS Cup title in 2001.
After the 2001 season ended, Cerritos was traded to the Dallas Burn (now FC Dallas) and played until the 2002 season, scoring seven goals in 38 games over those seasons.
In 2003, he was traded again, this time to DC United, where he scored two goals over the 2003 and 2004 seasons.
Back in San Jose in 2005, Cerritos led the team to their best-ever record of 18-4-10 with 64 points and won the league's Supporters Shield for best overall record in a season.
