Tina DeMartino had an unassisted goal in the 42nd minute and scored off an Amy Rodriguez assist in the 60th minute, but Rodriguez teamed with Johanna Lohman on the game-winning goal in the 81st minute as the expansion Philadelphia Independence came from two goals down to defeat the last place Atlanta Beat 3-2 Sunday in Women's Professional Soccer play at John A. Farrell Stadium at the University of West Chester.
Atlanta had opened with their fastest goal scored in team history by Johanna Rasmussen off a Ramona Bachmann assist in the fourth minute and doubled the lead in the 18th on an unassisted Lori Chalupny goal.
The Independence are now 10-6-4 with 34 points and are firmly in second place in the league standings. Philadelphia will face the defending league champion Sky Blue FC next Sunday at Yurcak Field on the campus of Rutgers University.
The Beat remain in last place in the standings at 4-10-5 with 17 points and will travel to the Boston Breakers Saturday.
