Bright Dike scored his fourth goal of the season and third in his last four games in the 41st minute as the Portland Timbers shut out AC St. Louis 1-0 Saturday in USSF Division 2 Pro League play at the Anheuser-Busch Soccer Park in Fenton, MO.
Hs goal also ended a four-game winless streak for Portland, who are now 8-7-7 with 31 points and in third place in the USL Conference and fourth overall in the league standings as playoff time approaches.
The two conference winners (USL and NASL) and the next six teams, regardless of conference affiliation, will qualify for the league playoffs.
Portland stays on the road this Saturday to face the NSC Minnesota Stars at the National Sports Center in Blaine, MN.
St. Louis, meanwhile, snapped a four-game unbeaten streak with the loss. They are 5-11-6 with 21 points and are in fifth place in the USL Conference standings. They will next host the Puerto Rico Islanders this Friday.
