Faced with the worst record this season in Major League Soccer, DC United announced Wednesday the firing of head coach Curt Onalfo, who was fired from MLS' Kansas City Comets exactly a year ago, and the elevation of former star and assistant coach Ben Olsen to interin head coach.
DC United is 3-12-3 with 12 points and in last place in the Eastern Conference standings.
Techinical director Chad Ashton will become Olsen's interim assistant coach, but assistant coach Kris Kelderman and goalkeeper coach Mark Sampson have been retained for Olsen's use.
DC United returns to play on the road Saturday against the New England Revolution.
