Tina Ellertson scored a goal into her own team's net in the 71st minute as the defending Women's Professional Soccer champion Sky Blue FC defeated the last-place and expansion Atlanta Beat 2-1 Saturday at Kennesaw State University Stadium.
Heather O'Reilly assisted Laura Kalmari on a 44th minute goal to give Sky Blue the opening lead, but Eniola Aluko fired off an unassisted 62nd minute goal to even the score for Atlanta before her teammate Ellertson's error.
Sky Blue is 6-8-3 with 21 points and tied for fourth place in the standings with the Chicago Red Stars (5-8-6) and will host the Washington Freedom Wednesday, then travel to the Boston Breakers next Sunday.
Atlanta, dead last in the league at 4-9-5 with 17 points, takes on the expansion Philadelphia Independence next Sunday on the road.
