The Austin Aztex, the best team in the USSF Division 2 Pro League and its USL Conference, got even better Monday with the acquisition of former forward Randi Patterson of the NASL Conference's Crystal Palace Baltimore for an undisclosed transfer fee Monday.
Patterson was signed by the Aztex for the remainder of the 2010 season with an option for the 2011 season after playing in 17 games and scoring four goals for Baltimore.
He has scored 39 goals and three assists in 101 professional career games with Austin, the Charleston Battery of the USL Second Division, the New York Red Bulls of Major League Soccer and the Carolina Dynamo of the USL Premier Development League.
Patterson had 61 goals and 19 assists at the University of North Carolina-Greensboro, where he was a two-time Southern Conference Player of the Year.
Though born in the United States, Patterson has also played for the men's national team of Trinidad & Tobago.
He will be eligible to join the Aztex for their home game Saturday at House Field against the FC Tampa Bay Rowdies.
