The Austin Aztex defeated the Carolina RailHawks 3-2 Sunday in USSF Division 2 Pro League play at House Park in Austin, TX.
After Daniel Paladini opened the scoring for Carolina in the 18th minute off a Josh Gardner assist, Austin evened the score when Lance Watson teamed with Eddie Johnson on a 36th minute goal.
The Aztex led 2-1 in the 66th when Yordany Alvarez connected with Yohance Marshall, then extended the lead to 3-1 off an unassisted Randi Patterson play.
Carolina's Allen Russell hit an unassisted goal in the 83rd minute for their other point.
The Aztex, once the best team in the league and the USL Conference, are now second in the conference at 13-3-5 with 44 points. Austin hits the road for their next two games -- against the Portland Timbers Thursday and the NASL Conference-leading Vancouver Whitecaps next Sunday.
The RailHawks are second in the NASL Conference at 8-7-7 with 31 points. Carolina travels to the FC Tampa Bay Rowdies Wednesday, then hosts the Puerto Rico Islanders Saturdat.
