New York Red Bulls forward Juan Pablo Angel, who scored both goals off assists by new teammate Thierry Henry in a 2-2 draw with the Houston Dynamo Saturday on the road, was named Major League Soccer Player of the Week for Week 18 of the 2010 season Monday.
It was the second time he won the award this season; he last was selected the winner in Week 13. It is his fifth such weekly honor in his career.
Angel has 11 goals on the season, two behind forward Edson Buddle of the Los Angeles Galaxy, in the race for the 2010 Budweiser Golden Boot as the league's top goal scorer. It is the fourth straight year Angel has reached double digits in goals for a single MLS season.
