The New Jersey Wildcats shut out the New Jersey Rangers 3-0 Thursday at Morris Catholic High School in a battle of Garden State teams in USL W-League play.
After the Rangers gave the Wildcats a 1-0 lead off an own goal in the 47th minute, Jessica Fuccello (66th minute) and Whitney Weinraub (82nd minute) built up the lead on unassisted goals.
The Wildcats are 5-1-1 with 16 points and tied for second place in the Eastern Conference - Northeast Division with the Washington Freedom Futures (5-0-1). Both teams are six points behind the league's defending regular season champion Hudson Valley Quickstrike Lady Blues (7-1-0, 21) for the division lead. The Wildcats will be at the Blues this Wednesday.
The Rangers are 4-6-0 with 12 points and are in fifth place in the standings. They will travel to the Long Island Rough Riders July 10.
