According to BigSoccer.com, United Soccer Leagues will hold a news conference at 3 p.m. Eastern time Wednesday to announce they will once again create an indoor soccer league, to be called I-League, beginning in the 2011 season and that Rochester, NY will be the first franchise city announced.
In 1986, USL began as the Southwest Indoor Soccer League, but changed its name later that year to the Southwest Independent Soccer League, then changed it again in 1990 (Sunbelt Independent Soccer League) and in 1991 (United States Interregional Soccer League), but operated both indoor and outdoor leagues, with the indoor league being renamed the I-League in 1996 and lasting until the 1997-98 season.
