Major League Soccer's Seattle Sounders announced Thursday midfielder David Estrada was placed on the team's injured reserve list, due to strains of a right hamstring and right first toe.
By league rules, he must miss a minimum of six games, making him eligible to return to the Sounders September 4 against the New England Revolution on the road.
Estrada, the 11th overall pick in the 2010 MLS SuperDraft, started one of three games he played in so far this season -- against FC Dallas.
The Sounders have also activated forward and newly-signed Designated Player Blaise Nkufo for Thursday's game against DC United at RFK Stadium.
Nkufo played in the 2010 FIFA World Cup for Switzerland and led FC Twente, where he played professionally for seven seasons, to the Dutch Eredivisie title in May. He scored a club-record 114 goals for Twente, based in Enschede, Holland.
