RSL Shuts Out Revolution To Extend Home Win Streak

Major League Soccer's defending champion Real Salt Lake won their 18th straight home game and ninth of the 2010 season as just a part of a 5-0 rout of the New England Revolution Friday at Rio Tinto Stadium in Sandy, UT.

Besides being the most goals scored by an MLS team this season, it was Real's fourth straight shutout and the team set a new franchise record by going 408 minutes without allowing a goal.

Alvaro Saborio led the way with two goals and Fabian Espindola and Jamison Olave added goals as well.

Robbie Findley, in his first game back after playing for the US in the World Cup, teamed with Will Johnson on the first of Saborio's goals in the 52nd minute, then scored an unassisted goal in the 85th minute.

Javier Morales assisted on Olave's goal and Saborio's second goal in the 57th minute.

RSL is now 8-3-3 with 27 points and is in second place in the Western Conference standings, seven points behind the conference- and league-leading Los Angeles Galaxy (10-1-3, 33 points). They will play the Chicago Fire Thursday at Toyota Park in Bridgeview, IL.

New England is 3-9-2 with 11 points and in sixth place in the Eastern Conference race. They have lost their last three games and seven of their last 11 and have been shut out in all seven losses. They host the Galaxy at Gillette Stadium July 10.
