Riverhounds' Severs Hits Game-Winner Over Eagles At Their Nest

Chad Severs' tie-breaking goal in the 89th minute gave the visiting Pittsburgh Riverhounds a 2-1 victory over the host Charlotte Eagles in USL Second Division play Friday at Charlotte Christian Stadium.

The Riverhounds got their opening point of the game on an own goal by the Eagles' Darren Toby, but Charlotee redeemed themselves by having Jorge Herrera equalize the score at 1-all in the 60th minute.

Pittsburgh is now 5-4-6 with 21 points and in third place in the league standings, three behind the defending league champion Richmond Kickers for sole possession of second place. Both teams meet Saturday at University of Richmond Stadium.

Charlotte, at 5-7-5 with 20 points and in fourth place, has a slim chance to gain a playoff spot and will host the league-leading Charleston Battery next Saturday.
