Women's Professional Soccer and PUMA announced Monday the launch of Project Pink, a new initiative to promote breast cancer awareness during selected WPS games and as well as through sales of Project Pink merchandise from now through Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October, starting Monday at http://shop,puma.com/, at select PUMA Stores and other retail locations
All profits from merchandise sales will go to a non-profit charity fans can vote for online from August 7 to September 13 at www.pumafootball.com/projectpink
People who use Twitter will also be able to help out the cause by using the hash tag #projectpink in all tweets from July 31 to October 18. PUMA will donate $1 for every hash tag posted, up to $25,000, to the effort.
During five WPS games, teams will play with a special pink soccer ball designed by PUMA and home teams will wear pink jerseys.
Those games are as follows:
- July 31: Washington Freedom @ Boston Breakers
- August 7: Chicago Red Stars @ FC Gold Pride
- August 8: Boston Breakers @ Philadelphia Independence
- August 11: Washington Freedom @ Sky Blue FC
- August 28: Sky Blue FC @ Washington Freedom
