Piranhas Chew Up Express In Shutout; Lead Dwindles

Renato Barbosa's eighth minute penalty kick was the only points the host Hampton Roads Piranhas needed to upset the Ironbound Express 1-0 Saturday in USL Premier Development League play at the Virginia Beach Sportsplex.

The Express lead the Eastern Conference - Mid-Atlantic Division with a 9-3-2 record and 29 points but now have a one-point lead in the standings over Reading United AC, the defending divisional champ, at 8-1-4 with 28. The Express will travel to the Ocean City Nor'Easters Wednesday.

The Piranhas, in ninth place at 3-6-3 with 12 points, host the Carolina Dynamo Wednesday.
