Ian Rothkopft scored the lone goal of the game off a Nicholas Weightman assist in the 57th minute as the expansion MPS Portland Phoenix shut out the Westchester Flames 1-1 in USL Premier Development League play Wednesday frm City Park Stadium in Westchester, NY.
The Phoenix are in third place in the Eastern Conference - Northeast Division at 6-1-3 with 21 points, six points behind the co-leading Albany BWP Highlanders (8-2-2, 26) and the Ottawa Fury (8-1-2, 26). MPS Portland travels Saturday to the New Hampshire Phantoms and to Albany Sunday.
Westchester is 1-5-5 with eight points, is in eighth place in the division, and hst the Western Mass Pioneers Saturday.
