Nine-Man Battery Still Better Than Full Kickers Squad

O'Brian Woodbine scored the game-winning goal off a Tom Heinemann assist in the 48th minute as an eventual nine-man Charleston Battery defeated a full Richmond Kickers team 1-0 Friday at Blackbaud Stadium in Charleston, SC in a battle of the top two teams in the USL Second Division.

Woodbine would later be ejected from the game after receiving a second yellow card in the game and, in second-half stoppage time, John Wilson received a straight red card for a collision with Richmond's Matthew Delicate.

The Battery retain the league's top spot with the win at 8-3-3 with 27 points and will host the Real Maryland Monarchs next Friday night.

The Kickers, still in second at 6-4-4 with 22, will be at the Charlotte Eagles Saturday at Charlotte Christian Stadium.
