Marta Named WPS POW For Third Time This Season

Four-time reigning FIFA Woman Player of the Year and FC Gold Pride forward Marta was named Women's Professional Soccer's Player of the Week Tuesday for the third time this season.
She earned the Week 12 award for scoring four goals and assisting on a fifth in two games in Kennesaw, GA last week.

Last Wednesday, she scored the first two goals for her Marta XI team in a 5-2 win over Abby XI, led by Washington Freedom forward Abby Wambach at the 2010 WPS All-Star Game presented by the US Coast Guard Reserve at Kennesaw State University Soccer Stadium in Kennesaw, GA.

That Saturday at the same stadium, which serves as the home to the expansion Atlanta Beat, she assisted Christine Sinclair in scoring the fastest goal in league history -- in 40 seconds -- an scored two goals in a 4-0 romp over the Beat.
