FC Gold Pride forward Marta captained Marta XI to a 5-2 win over Abby XI, led by Washington Freedom forward Abby Wambach, during the second annual Women's Professional Soccer All-Star Game presented by the US Coast Guard Reserve Wednesday at KSU Soccer Stadium in Kennesaw, GA.
Marta scored the opening goal in the eighth minute off Kelly Smith, then went unassisted two minutes later to put her team up 2-0.
Christine Sinclair upped the advantage to 3-0 on an unassisted goal in the 32nd minute before Eniola Aluko, off one of two assists in the game by Heather O'Reilly, put Abby XI on the board in the 36th minute.
Amy Rodriguez led Marta's team in the second half as she assisted Aya Miyami on a 75th minute goal, then scored off a Cristiane assist in the 81st minute.
O'Reilly would assist Lauren Cheney on Marta XI's last point of the match in the 79th minute.
WPS teams return to action this Saturday.
