Leones Land In USL PDL Playoffs With Home Win Over Sockers

Trevor Eastman assisted Ljubomir Kocic on the game-winning goal in the 55th minute as the host Houston Leones qualified for the 2010 USL Premier Development League playoffs with a 2-1 victory over the West Texas United Sockers at Soccer World Center in Houston.

Paul Porter scored off an Francisco Hernandez assist in the 24th minute to give the Sockers the lead before Weston Vallentino made the equalizing goal for the Leones in the 40th minute.

The Leones finished second in the Southern Conference - Mid-South Division standings at 7-5-4 with 25 points, tied with the DFW Tornados, but won the tiebreaker to advance to the Southern Conference tournament this Friday at Harper Davis Field in Jackson, MS to face the Southeast Division champion Mississippi Brilla.

The Sockers closed their 2010 season with a fourth place finish in the division at 6-7-3 with 21 points.
