Nicholas Addlery scored goals in each half of play and David Foley and Josh Hansen added goals as the Puerto Rico Islanders of the USSF Division 2 Pro League stunned the best team this season in Major League Soccer, the Los Angeles Galaxy, 4-1 Tuesday at The Home Depot Center in Carson, CA in the first game of a two-game, aggregate-goal play-in series to qualify for a spot in the field for the 2010-11 CONCACAF Champions League.
Los Angeles' lone goal came in the 83rd minute when Puerto Rico's Richard Martinez scored in his own goal.
Game two of the series will take place August 3 at Juan Ramon Loubriel Stadium in Bayamon, PR.
The winner of that series will advance to the Group Stage and be teamed with Mexico's Toluca, Honduras' CD Olimpia and the winner of another play-in series between FAS (El Salvador) and Xelaju (Guatemala).
