Less than a day after welcoming Ali Gerba back into the fold, the Montreal Impact of the USSF Division 2 Pro League announced the signing Friday of midfielder Antonio Ribeiro to a contract for the rest of the 2010 season and the full 2011 season.
He spent eight seasons with the franchise (2000, 2001, 2003-08) in the USL First Division and led them to a league championship in 2004 and back-to-back regular season titles in 2004 and 2005.
In 119 career games, 62 of which he started, Ribeiro had 10 goals and nine assists for 29 points.
In 2009, he played seven games for Major League Soccer's San Jose Earthquakes, but did not register any goals or assists.
Ribeiro could start for the Impact Wednesday when they host AC St. Louis at Saputo Stadium.
