Impact Inks Gerba To Contract Through 2011 Season

The Montreal Impact of the USSF Division 2 Pro League announced the signing Thursday of forward Ali Gerba to a contract for the rest of the 2010 and the full 2011 seasons.

It will be Gerba's fourth stint with the franchise. He played parts of the 2000, 2003 and 2005 seasons for them in the USL First Division, scoring 12 goals and four assists in a combined 32 regular season games.

He will be eligible to play for Montreal this Sunday when they host Crystal Palace Baltimore at Saputo Stadium.

Gerba has also spent time with the USL Second Division's Pittsburgh Riverhounds and Premier Development League's Toronto Lynx, as well as played in Europe.

On June 23, 2009, he signed with Major League Soccer's Toronto FC and scored his first league goal July 25, 2009 against the Columbus Crew.

He has scored 15 goals in 29 games for the Canadian Men's National Team, though he was born in Cameroon, Africa.

Gerba has scored the most goals of any Canadian player in the history of the CONCACAF Gold Cup with six.
