Great Scott! Sounders Advance In LHUSOC Over Timbers In PKs

Zach Scott's goal won a 5-4 penalty kick shooout for Major League Soccer's Seattle Sounders against the Portland Timbers of the USSF Division 2 Pro League in a 2010 Lamar Hunt US Open Cup Round of 16 game Wednesday.

The game went through 90 minutes of regulation play and 30 minutes of extra time and ended in a 1-1 draw.

Portland's Bright Dike, who was honored Sunday as the LHUSOC Player of the Round for the second round July 22 when he scored a hat trick in a 4-1 win over the USL Premier Development League's Kitsap Pumas, scored their lone goal, which was countered by Seattle as Sainey Nyassi assisted Nate Jaqua on the tying goal.

The Sounders will now face the best team in MLS, the Los Angeles Galaxy, twice in three days -- first in MLS play at The Home Depot Center Saturday night, then at PGE Park in Portland next Wednesday to possibly advance to the LHUSOC semifinals with a win.
